A fake PostFinance login alert sets up a fraudulent call

On 14 October 2026, Zurich cantonal police published on cybercrimepolice.ch the case of fake emails sent in the name of PostFinance, with a subject line such as "Security check required". The message claims that access to the account from abroad has been detected and offers a button to block it. The link leads to a copy of the website, where the victim is asked to enter their first name, surname and phone number.

This data is passed to the fraudsters. It allows them to call the victim back while posing as bank advisers, or to commit other fraud. A call received shortly after such an email therefore deserves the same caution as the message itself.

In practiceDo not click on a link in an email or text message to block access to your account. Open the usual app or website yourself, or contact PostFinance directly. If you have entered your details, tell the bank and be wary of any calls that follow.
